Corrected Proof and Volume Calculator
What this calculator does
The Corrected Proof and Volume calculator uses TTB Table 7 to correct both the proof and volume of spirits when the observed temperature differs from 60°F. TTB Table 7 provides the correction factors needed to convert observed volume to wine gallons (volume at 60°F) and to determine the corrected proof. These corrected values are essential for accurate proof gallon calculations, gauging, and tax reporting.
How to use it
Enter the observed volume, observed proof, and temperature of the spirit. The calculator applies TTB Table 7 corrections to return the corrected volume in wine gallons and the corrected proof. From there, proof gallons can be calculated. Use calibrated instruments for all measurements and ensure the spirit sample is at a uniform temperature before reading.
Calculation notes
TTB Table 7 corrects for the thermal expansion and contraction of spirits. The table covers temperatures from 0°F to 100°F and proofs from 0 to 200 proof. For fractional inputs, bilinear interpolation is applied between table entries. The corrected volume represents the equivalent volume at 60°F, and the corrected proof is the true proof at 60°F. These values are used together to calculate proof gallons for tax and reporting purposes.
